Baylor Supplemental Essay Prompts 2026-2027
Under each prompt: what it is really asking, the mistake most applicants make, and the first question Jim asks you so the essay comes from your story, not a template.
- Early Decision applicants: What are you looking for in a university, why do you want to attend Baylor, and how do you see yourself contributing to the Baylor community?
450 words · optionalWhat they are really asking: Are you sure enough about Baylor to commit, and can you say why in specifics?
The mistake most applicants make: Praising Waco, the football, and the faith community in general terms. Binding applicants need a reason that is theirs.
Do this instead: Three parts, in order: the thing you need from a university and where that need came from, two specific Baylor pieces that meet it, and one concrete way you would show up on campus. Each part should connect to something already on your application.
Jim starts by asking you: “What do you need from a college that Baylor has and most others do not, and where did that need come from?” Answer it with Jim, free →
