What is on these pages

Every page lists the school's 2026-2027 application deadlines by round, every supplemental essay and short-answer prompt with its word limit, the school's testing policy with middle-50% score ranges, and its acceptance rate. Under each prompt on 90 of the 115 pages there is coaching from Jim, the AlphaApply.ai counselor: what the school is really asking, the mistake most applicants make, and the first question to answer before you write. Each page was checked against the college's own admissions materials, and the verification date is printed at the bottom.

How supplemental essays work this cycle

Across these 115 schools there are 431 supplemental prompts. 25 schools ask for nothing beyond the Common App personal statement, which makes them fast additions to a long list; see the no-supplement list. The rest range from one 100-word "why us" to a dozen program-specific essays. The most common prompt types are why this school, why this major, a community or background question, and an activity elaboration. Because most schools ask a version of the same four questions, one well-built story about yourself can be adapted across many applications, but the school-specific details have to be real for each one.

Deadlines cluster on a few dates

65 of these schools have an Early Decision or Early Action deadline on November 1, 2026. The University of California campuses and several large public universities close their main round on November 30 or December 1, 2026, well before most private schools. Regular Decision for most selective colleges falls between January 1 and January 15, 2027, and rolling-admission schools keep accepting applications into spring but fill scholarships and honors programs much earlier. Use the all-deadlines table to see every date on one page.

Testing policies are split

23 of these schools require an SAT or ACT score this cycle, 11 do not consider scores at all, and the remaining 81 are test-optional. At test-optional schools, a score at or above the middle-50% range on the school's page usually helps, and a score below it is usually better left out. The testing policy list groups every school by policy with its score ranges.

How to use this list

Start with the schools you are sure about and read their prompts early, because the "why us" essays take the most research. Then use the chances calculator to check whether your list has enough targets and likelies, and add a few no-supplement schools if your essay load is heavy. When you are ready to write, open a free AlphaApply.ai account: every prompt below is already loaded, and Jim tracks the deadlines and coaches each draft in your own words.
