What Ole Miss is really asking
Do you know what you want to study, and can you name how Ole Miss helps you do it?
The mistake most applicants make
Writing a generic 'why college' essay with the school name pasted in. It is optional, so a lazy answer is worse than no answer.
Do this instead
Name the major, one specific Ole Miss resource attached to it, and one way you would show up in that department. It is optional, which means the students who do it well stand out.
How to spend 500 words
500 words is a full short essay. Build it around one story with a clear turn, use real names and details, and let the reflection grow out of the story instead of being announced at the end.
How to start
Jim starts by asking you: “What subject makes you lose track of time, and what have you already done about it?” Answer it with Jim, free →
