Colleges With No Supplemental Essays (2026-2027)

These schools require only the Common App personal statement, with no school-specific supplemental essays for the 2026-2027 cycle. Verified against each school's admissions materials by AlphaApply.ai.

25 colleges on our list of 115 have no supplemental essay this cycle, and 18 more ask for a single short prompt. Every one of them still reads your Common App personal statement, activities list, and transcript, so those carry the whole application. Build your list with Jim, free.

What "no supplemental essays" means

A school on this list does not add its own essay questions to the Common App. You still write the 650-word personal statement, and most of these schools weigh it heavily because it is the only writing they see. Three things can still add an essay: honors colleges and scholarship programs usually have their own prompt, a few majors like nursing, architecture, and music ask for a statement or portfolio, and some schools offer an optional "additional information" box. Check the school's page below for those exceptions before you assume the application is short.

Because these applications take an hour instead of a weekend, they are the easiest way to add safeties and targets to a list late in the fall. The deadlines still matter: several on this list close scholarship consideration in November or December even when the admission deadline runs into spring, so use the dates below rather than the final one on the school's site.
